Located on the spectacular Saint John River, The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is New Brunswick’s officially designated provincial art gallery and is home to one of the most prestigious and internationally significant art collections in Canada. Boasting British, Canadian, Atlantic Canadian and International art works, the Beaverbrook’s mission is to bring art and community together in a dynamic cultural environment dedicated to the highest standards in acquisitions, exhibitions, programming, education and stewardship. The gallery has undergone extensive expansion and revitalization and with great excitement is nearing completion of a new pavilion which will make it the largest art gallery in the Atlantic region.

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for the role of Director & CEO to lead the Gallery in a historic and exciting time of expansion and innovation.

Reporting to the Board of Governors, the Director and CEO will have extensive knowledge and experience in the visual arts and possess a proven capacity to manage gallery operations as well as lead and motivate an engaged staff.  The Director will be capable of developing and executing a strategic plan which will require an individual with reach and vision while being comfortable operating in an international milieu.  The Director’s role will also include building and maintaining strong relationships with benefactors, government, corporate sponsors and the general public.

As the ideal candidate, you possess a minimum of ten years’ of senior leadership experience. With significant experience and presence in the national and international visual arts community you have a passion and deep appreciation for the arts and are seen as a recognized and respected leader. Inspirational leadership, collaboration and superb communication skills are trademarks of your leadership style. As a compelling spokesperson and ambassador, you bring a high level of sophistication presenting to large groups, seeking partnerships and sponsorships and building relationships with key stakeholders. You possess strong experience in developing strategic operational plans and financial management and you have a proven reputation for achieving results.
