Curatorial Fellowship

Position Overview:  The Ford Foundation Curatorial Fellow at PAMM will participate in the entire spectrum of curatorial activities under the direction of Director Franklin Sirmans and Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander. The Curatorial Fellow will conduct extended research in their chosen area and help organize the annual reinstallations of the museum’s permanent collection. The Curatorial Fellow will work with PAMM’s curatorial staff in all phases of exhibition development, including: checklist development; lender and artist relations; publication development; writing texts for exhibition interpretation, online content, and press and promotional materials; exhibition floor plan development, installation; and related public program development.

Qualifications:
• The Ford Foundation Curatorial Fellowship at PAMM is offered to students of underrepresented ethnic backgrounds who have recently completed their studies at the undergraduate level in Art History or a related field. The museum encourages applications from members of historically underrepresented groups in the curatorial and museum profession, including art history students who are members of racial and/or ethnic minority groups, are differently abled, or are from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.

Successful candidates will demonstrate interest and expertise in a curatorial focus of their choice in modern and contemporary art that reflects Greater Miami’s diverse community and pivotal geographic location at the crossroads of the Americas.

Candidates must submit a letter of interest that includes an outline of the candidate’s proposed curatorial focus; a resume; three academic or museum references; and a short writing sample.

Applications will be reviewed by an internal committee of PAMM staff, with short-listed candidates considered by a broader panel that may include external reviewers drawn from Miami’s community of academics and curators in the field. PAMM hopes to select the first Curatorial Fellow by the end of summer 2017, with the successful candidate joining PAMM in September 2017.
