Director of Development

The Figge Art Museum seeks an experienced and dynamic individual to lead its development efforts, including membership, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, grants and sponsorships, special events and new initiatives. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and helps chart the museum’s strategic course and grow its service to the Quad Cities region. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, will possess a broad understanding of fundraising principles, donor cultivation, research and tracking, with strong written and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance of arts and culture to the community. He or she will lead a three-person development team and will coordinate and inspire the efforts of the Development Committee of the Board and its subcommittees and affiliate volunteer organization, the Friends of the Figge. The position often requires after hours and weekend work, as well as occasional travel.

The Figge Art Museum presents over twenty changing exhibitions of historical and contemporary art each year and attracts a diverse audience of over 105,000 each year from the Quad Cities region as well as all fifty states and many foreign countries. Its education programs, both onsite and in the community, serve over 65,000 individuals yearly. The museum began in 1925 as the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery, and was a Davenport city museum until 2003, when it became a nonprofit organization. Its 114,000 square foot building, designed by Sir David Chipperfield, opened in 2005. The Figge has a full-time professional staff of nineteen, with an annual budget of $2.6 million.
